What is NOC Analyst: Job Description, Skills, Roles & Responsibility?


NOC (Network Operations Center) analysts play an essential role in the analysis of system problems and at times that occur in the business the network of customers and other users. This analyst will carry out investigations and alerts to solve the problem and will contact the network engineer and the central system administrator if it turns out to be complicated.

First, the NOC is a centralized location where one or more communication networks are observed, managed, and carefully maintained by an administrator. The primary function of the administrator is to guarantee the optimal operation of the system in various media. NOC Operations are generally managed by large network service companies that use the software. These centers manage television, computer, and communications transmission networks.

The noc team also monitors performance problems and power failures that affect network performance.

It is the analyst's responsibility to conduct research and document best practices to keep problems under control. Therefore, they need to have an in-depth knowledge of current customer technologies and understand how network operations are affected. The important thing is that they need to work flexibly because the problem occurs without warning.

Roles & Responsibility of NOC Analyst :

  • Respond to all incidents, interruptions, and performance alerts promptly. Classify scaling problems to the appropriate technical team
  • Recognize, identify, and prioritize events based on the client's business requirements, organizational policies, and operational impact.
  • Collect and review the performance reports of various systems and report the performance trends of the hardware and applications so that senior technicians can anticipate future issues and cuts.
  • Monitor a variation of info and network systems, containing, but not limited to, communication lines, LAN / WAN systems, routers, switches, firewalls, VoIP systems, servers, storage, backups, operating systems and core applications
  • Document all activities in agreement with the company's typical strategies and processes.
  • Notify customers and third-party service providers of problems, interruptions and repair status
  • Work with interior and exterior practical and facility teams to produce or inform knowledge base articles.
  • Perform necessary system tests and operations tasks (patch installation, network connectivity tests, script execution, etc.).
  • Support for multiple technical teams in a 24x7 high availability is the operating environment. Different shift schedules may include day or night.

NOC Analyst Skills and Qualifications

NOC analysts require extensive knowledge of IT and the ability of the network to monitor security, troubleshoot, and provide system support. Employers are looking for NOC analysts who have the following skills necessary to complete various work-related tasks.
