It is an exciting time to be in the industry as new network
technologies drive new applications and change the role of networks in
business.
Advances in network technology have enabled new applications
and business models. Voice over IP for integrated IP networks, mobile
applications for 3G networks and mobile video for 4G networks. Today, new
technologies like 5G, Wi-Fi 6, and cutting-edge computing come to life again.
They create a whole new set of applications, and developers who understand the
capabilities of this new network can create new experiences and accelerate
their business.
In addition, new network engineering, such as
intention-based networks, multi-domain networks, and programming capability,
will fundamentally change the functionality of networks, allowing network
engineers to create solutions that take advantage of programmable networks in
new ways and exciting. You will have the opportunity. You can apply DevOps
practices to your network to increase network agility and enable automation on
a large scale. IT can be a major business driver because it can pull business
information from the web. In addition to connectivity, the new networks will
now use policies and attempts to securely connect applications, users, devices
and data from the data center or the cloud to campus, branch offices, borders
and multiple environments.
The opportunities are exciting, but it takes more than new
technologies to take advantage of the full capabilities of the network. New
networks fundamentally change the role networks can play, but they also change
the way networking is done. The way networks run five, ten, and twenty years
ago changes when full functionality is used. To show the full capabilities of
your new network, you need people and teams with the right skills and
practices.
We are pleased to announce two new services that unleash the
capabilities of the new network. The first brings software practices to
networks and the second brings software skills to networks. They are:
DevNet Automation
Exchange - A community-based developer hub that accelerates the success of
network automation. Bring software practices to networks with a code share
repository to solve network automation use cases developed by the Cisco Network
Expert Community and the Software Developer Community.
New Cisco
Certification and New DevNet Certification - Training and certification for
network professionals and software developers who bring software skills to the
network. This enables application developers to create applications that take
advantage of the full capabilities of the network, create IT teams with
networking skills and experience, and software skills and experience to take
advantage of the full capabilities of the network.
DevNet Automation
Exchange Presentation
Customers and partners have said that network automation is
one of the biggest problems. The network is at the center of the business, and
as the business grows, so is the network. They are growing too big to manage
and want to introduce automation to their networks, so they turn to DevNet for
help.
Five years ago, we created DevNet to help network engineers
and application developers make the most of the revolutionary changes that
shape the industry. Today at Cisco Live, we are taking another step to help our
customers with the most important issues: network automation and the launch of
the DevNet Automation Exchange. This is a community-based developer center
where network workers and developers can learn to walk, run, and fly with
network automation using all the features of Cisco products and new networks.
They are defined as:
Hike - Gain
visibility and insights from the network in a read-only way. This enables use
cases such as collecting telemetry and information from running networks and
performing audits to ensure continued network security.
Execution:
Activate policies and attempts in different network domains. This enables use
cases such as providing self-service network operations that comply with
security policies and operational guidelines.
Fly: Proactively
manage your applications, users and devices using DevOps workflows. This
enables use cases such as application deployment for continuous integration and
continuous delivery pipelines (CI / CD) while configuring the network according
to new application policies.
Another thing the networkers told us was: "DevNet
helped us learn how to code and how to use the Cisco APIs, but we are ready to
take it further." We need help solving the use cases we have. ” This is
addressed through software development that solves network automation use cases
in addition to Cisco products and APIs. Instead of writing all the code
yourself, we are incorporating code-share repository software practices into
network automation.
DevNet Automation Exchange is a place where DevNet members
can get free source code for network automation and solve their own use cases.
We have provided over 50 code repositories to the Automation Exchange, many of
which were provided by our engineering team and SE. And now we invite the
DevNet community to submit the code that solves those use cases. We have talked
to developers and network workers and they are excited to use this community
approach to network automation. They are excited to have a place to contribute
the code and find the code that can be used in the project and appreciate that
Cisco is hosting it. We hope our community comes together to make this the
industry's premier network automation code repository.
Introducing New Cisco
Certifications, Including New DevNet Certification
Another thing that our DevNet
developers, Cisco Champions and CCIE advisors also told me: `` I have spent
time at DevNet developing software skills that I know are important to my work.
Please get DevNet certified. ” Once again, we listen to your voice and receive
feedback to create a new product. The new Cisco certification and the new
DevNet certification.
We created a new Professional
Certification Program that includes the evolution of our highly acclaimed and
industry leading CCNA / CCNP / CCIE certifications and adds a brand new DevNet
Developer Certification! Like engineering certifications, these new software
certifications are at the associate, specialist, professional, and expert
level, and are known to be as rigorous as the Cisco certification program since
its inception in 1993. This is the largest evolution . We are confident that it
will be the result of 26 years of programming and will continue to drive
professionals and technology and industry leaders for the next 26 years.
Details about the new DevNet
certification and the new / evolved Cisco certification are available online,
but here are some highlights:
·
Associate level certifications are for entry
level jobs. The DevNet Associate certification covers 80% software skills and
20% network skills. The CCNA certification covers 80% of networking skills and
20% of software skills.
· Certification for Cisco and DevNet Specialists
is a technological approach to networking and software. You can choose the
concentration of skills necessary to succeed in your job, and you can use them
to be professional and professionally qualified.
CCNP certifications are available to companies,
service providers, data centers, security and collaboration, and can be
obtained by passing their respective core exams and the Cisco Specialist or
DevNet Specialist exams.
· DevNet Professional certification is earned by
passing the Cisco DevNet Specialist exams and core exams.
· The CCIE certification continues to be one of
the most recognized certifications in the industry. DevNet Expert certification
will be available in the future.
There are several ways that these
certifications can be used by networking professionals and software developers.
We envision a combination of these certifications to help people acquire the
skills they need. Specifically, network experts are supposed to be DevNet
certified and software developers will be certified by Cisco specialists when
choosing their adventures.
This agility enables network
customizations, such as DevSecOps engineers and IoT architects, to tailor
training to emerging new job roles in the industry.
For example, DevSecOps engineers
can earn CCNP Security certification and acquire skills in the following
disciplines:
- · Learn how to automate security operations (Cisco Specialist: Security)
- · Deploy applications securely (Cisco DevNet Specialist: DevOps)
- · Create a Chatbot to monitor and alert SecOps teams (Cisco DevNet Specialist: Webex)
